Dr Shanta S Rao Oration was held on April 21, 2009 at the seminar hall of the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health. The oration was delivered by Prof. A Jagannatha Rao, Rajaramanna fellow (DST), Indian Institute of Sciences , Bangalore on 'Insights into the hormonal regulation of epididymal function: A study using monkey and rat models'.

Dr V.M. Katoch, Secretary, Department of Health Research and Director General Indian Council of Medical Research presided over the function.

Shri M. Rajamani, IAS, Senior Deputy Director General (Administration), Shri Sanjiv Datta, Financial Advisor, and Dr. K. Satyanarayana, Scientist 'G' and Head, Publication and Information, Man Power Development and Reproductive Health and Nutrition, Indian Council of Medical Research also attended the oration.
